New Summer Swim 2016

Springtime was one big build-up: a tease consisting of open-toed shoes and bare shoulders. Here in sunny California, the days were bright and gorgeous, but not quite hot enough for us to break out the swimwear and hit the water for a dip. But, Summer is here! We can all rejoice and start thinking about our bathing-suit styles and making memories in our freshest-kinis!

Swimsuit season brings on a number of challenges, mainly the difficulty in finding the ‘proper fit’ for your body, while also trying to stay fashion-forward! We believe that feeling amazing directly correlates with looking amazing. So first and foremost, choose the suit that is going to feel comfortable and cheerful while you’re in it! Following this first step, then you can think about water resistance and practicality, along with the trend that is going to be most chic for your style. Here are some of our favourites:

SPORTY

Functionality of a suit doesn’t have to detract from style! Boy shorts and bandeau tops were making waves at this year’s Swim Week. Here, minimalist shapes are preferred, with neon accents, color blocking and zips present on the most stylish pieces. Sporty isn’t just for surf babes, it’s about being multi-functional in your swim attire!

Edgy

If you’re the type of gal that likes to stand out, trying one of this season’s freshest styles may be for you. The one-piece is a staple, but this season’s mod twist are deep-cut backs! Or for those that prefer to get leggy, Baywatch-esque high-cuts are all the rage! Suits in classic black or bold brights are always chic. Unique textures such as mesh paneling are fun accents to any suit.

Hyper-Feminine

For all you ‘feel pretty’ gals, summer’s girliest trends are for you! The latest styles have classic feminine details transferred to suits in all shapes, whether it be Brazilian-cut, side-tie briefs or model triangle-tops. The emphasis is in the details, with lace, scalloping, and teeny-tiny ruffles taking pride of place in this season’s hyper-feminine ensemble. Flouncy is fabulous!

Retro Re-Vamp

Just like you mix and match your tops and bottoms, sometimes styles of yesteryear are excellent to blend with current vibes. Nautical-themed swimwear is perfectly vintage, however you can blend fashionable notes with modern shapes, such as halter necks. A seventies-style crochet suit can be revived in a color of the season (such a nude/pink). Get creative!
